I absolutely love the work of Bill Blass during this time period and this particular example is absolutely wonderful. It is made even more so when you consider how perfectly "new" it still looks and feels. Hand dyed silk in a deep golden yellow is mixed with crisp, bright white silk for a wonderful contrast. The gown itself is simple and perfect - a boned and strapless bodice tops a full and flowing silk skirt that falls to the floor. I love how the bodice is a mix of solid white and the patterned yellow silk - it gives it a stronger visual impact and makes it feel far more couture. The bodice is gathered and wrapped around the bust and the two fabric colors used to highlight and shape the body. The skirt is set into the nipped in waist with soft gathers that give it both a romantic feel and allow the fabric to have volume and movement. It has such a light and airy feeling and is just so pretty. Astonishingly beautiful and a true example of how extraordinary great design can be when the cut and fabric are married to perfection. Excellent condition
Fully lined in a white silk and closes with an offset, painted metal and nylon zipper that is set where the two fabrics meet at the back. Light boning through the bodice. Hand finished.
