I acquired this incredibly beautiful rayon 1940s vintage long skirt from an estate that also had 3 Gilbert Adrian vintage dresses. I would not be surprised if this was designed by Adrian. The faux patchwork print is so unique and has that same whimsy as many of Adrian's 1940's prints. I was told by the woman's son that his mother actually met Adrian and was a huge fan of his ready to wear line. This woman ran Best's Department Store in the 1940s and 1950s and this skirt, the Adrian dresses and a (also unlabeled) green rayon satin hostess gown were the only 5 pieces she saved from her many years with the store. Best's Apparel was eventually acquired by Nordstrom in the 1960's and became "Nordstrom's Best." Although the only label is one that indicates "FRONT", if not Adrian, it must have been made by an important designer or she would not have saved it. This skirt is in mint condition and the hem is lined with 8" of black satin for weight. One side slit pocket and side metal zipper. I would estimate it to be a size 2/4. Please use the measurements as a guide for a proper fit.
